Getting organized and gathering supplies to start teaching D some of what he needs to start Kindergarten a year from now. I like some of the ideas I have seen for getting the little ones started learning and getting into the routine of the having a quiet time to sit and be read to, learn his alphabet, learn his numbers and what it actually means. I think a trip to the dollar store is needed to supplement what I already have here. We need some baskets and alphabets and number posters, some new paints among other things.
I already have a few pre-K workbooks and one for 4 year olds to get them to start learning how to form letters. I might need a printer to start printing some work pages etc.
Right now I am thinking a good area to have our little learning space will be in the kitchen so he needs a shelf to hold his stuff and I need a few tubs to keep my stuff in.
He is signed up for swimming lessons starting the end of the month for 2 weeks-5 days a week for half an hour. The pool and rec centre is just a few blocks from our place so that will be a good activity for him for those two weeks.
I am going to have to figure out how to flow from one thing to another to keep him intersted and I think I am going to set a fairly rigid routine until we get used to following it each day then we can go from there.
It's a start. :)
His room needs better organization too. I am going to take a tub or two and put away alot of my art supplies for now so I can concentrate on him. We are going to do some baking as well. Lots of ideas and lots of fun stuff for us to do each day.
